“Prison Strikes as Civil Resistance” (a joint research project with Malaka Shwaikh) has been selected for a monograph award by the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict. The announcement is here: https://www.nonviolent-conflict.org/2017-research-monograph-awardees/

Hunger strikes are among the most potent tools prisoners have of affecting the conditions of their imprisonment. This research draws on interviews with hunger strikers collected over the course of several years of research within Gaza and the West Bank to advance the global study of civil resistance.

An overview of this project has been published in the newsletter for the British Committee for Universities of Palestine (2nd article): http://www.bricup.org.uk/documents/archive/BRICUPNewsletter120.pdf
