I would say that this matter should be viewed through the lens of class (and probably race and broadly geographic factors) and not just the overall progress of Western society. I think there is overwhelming evidence that even in 2024, working class women from, say, Arkansas (apologies for the stereotype but this is a state in which I briefly lived) are absolutely victims of prejudice regarding reproductive rights & women’s rights. So the view that these inequalities have been superceded do not apply equally across all areas of the the “west.”
