I was sorry to see this suggestion about leaving Medium when I'm just beginning to discover your work! I agree with your criticisms of this platform but there is still a way in which Medium serves a need for me. For me the key to success on Medium is limiting the extent to which I write "Medium first" stories and instead investing my efforts into reworking what I have already written for other purposes into Medium stories. Viewed that way, anything good that comes to me from these republications feels like a bonus. When I write something exclusively for Medium (which I try to avoid doing, but sometimes the temptation is strong, or I have to do it for my pub) then I can get frustrated exactly as you say. But if I manage to keep Medium just as an afterthought, it can be an extremely rewarding one. I don't think that there is any platform that is as welcome to repurposed work, republication etc. I don't know all your work,. but I know you do literary translation. Why not publish your translations off Medium in a venue you admire and then republish those here, getting the benefit of these opportunities to repurpose your work? (And if you max out your two self-noms in any given month, I'd be happy to nominate them for you in my pub:). In my case, usually when I get the chance to repurpose my publications for Medium, the work itself improves and so I get the benefit of a stronger piece of writing in its second iteration.
