I hope you will at least grant that even if this is not Mill's position it is entirely how his work is received in the present context, especially among university administrators. I have seen that myself. But I am always happy with adminitions to return to the original source and revisit my argument. Am in the process of re-reading On Liberty now. If you do find your copy and have the chance to reference specific passages and page numbers I promise to make good use of the references:) I'm more than happy to reformulate my argument to say that they are getting Mill wrong rather than that Mill himself was wrong. Although I think that there is enough ambiguity in the original that this kind of discussion is really necessary. Bilgrami's critique is pretty intense. But that doesn't absolve me of the need to engage directly with me.
