Hi Oksana, Thanks so much for the thoughtful response! It seems that we have a different understanding of what happened at Columbia, and that's not likely to be resolved in the comments. But what's important is that we agree on principles, such as not supporting violence on any side. From my point of view, much of Columbia's reaction was concerning to me. For example, evicting students without a notice period--making them homeless--and locking teachers out of their own offices. (Also they are now threatening to fire their law professor, Katherine Franke, who has very sensible and insightful views about Palestine and much else.) As I understand it, even the NYPD later confirmed that it was unnecessary to involve them. I understand that this is not how you understand what happened, but we both know that in a situation with police, situations can escalate, leading to unexpected violence. Anyway, leaving these concrete details aside, we're entering an even darker era with Trump. It's unbelievable how long all of the wars that darken our world have been going on, and how useless our politicians are.
