As I wrote in my nomination for this great essay: "The author shows how this mystical poet drew on avant-garde trends at the cutting edge of European (French) poetics to transform Turkish literature. As the first author to translate Buddhist texts into Turkish, Çelebi expanded the horizons of Turkish culture." Particularly interesting for me was your point that even though Halet's work is situated within a tradition of mysticism, his own aesthetic lineage is traceable to European modernism. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me that there is something to be said here about how Orientalism works (in both directions).
