As an educator I have always enjoyed teaching adults at later stages in their lives, who already have established careers. They bring new perspectives when they decide to engage with the liberal arts, often for deeply personal reasons, It sounds like Godard filled an important role in offering these residencies. In some ways it reminds me of Birkbeck University in London, which has night classes only and hence draws professional students. Yet its curriculum is focused on the humanities.
